    M F Hussein, indias foremost modern painter and an internationally recognized artist passed away in London on June 9,2011 at the age of 97 husain lived in Dubai londan and Qatar aftar being forced to leave India in 2006 . a number of legal cases based on the charge of hurting religious sentiments were slapped on him ,in 2007 ,he was offered citizenship by the monarchy of Qatar which he accepted

    he born in pandharur in maharashtra ,Husain lost his mother when he was one and a half .his father re married andmoved to indore where he went to school in 1935'he moved to bombay and joined the j.j school of art .as a young struggling artist he painted cinema hoarding he later come to the limeling in the 1940s

  husain made his international debut in 1950 with a solo exhibition at zurich and soon established a world wild reputation .he soon become one of India s highest paid painters ,the first state recognition came in 1955 when he was awarded the padma shri .in 1973 he was awarded the padma bhushan ,and in1991 the padma vibhushan .he was nominated to the rajya sabha in 1986
